Excellent App

Voicedream reader is the best text to speech app for IOS.

Austen fan saver

I have severe glaucoma and reading can be challenging. The books for blind service is great BUT I read Jane Austen fanfiction. I have downloaded over the years stories written by amateur authors. These are in Word and allow me to listen to them with Voice Dream. Thank you for this software that brings my stories back to me. It is a small niche of fans that without this software I would have to rely on friends to read to me.

Excellent app. Enables me to learn at unprecedented pace

I use this to read various educational pieces while in the car, doing mundane activities, etc. For this small investment, you will be miles ahead of others attempting to cover similar material. I highly recommend this app.

Perfect for med students

Im an MD-PhD student and this app is invaluable in learning medicine. You can listen and read along on the screen which reinforces memorization. Fantastic. I hope for a MacOS version one day.

An indispensable tool, I would give it six stars if I could.

Ive been using Voice Dream for some time, and it continues to improve and make my life easier. The latest version finally gives me the opportunity to directly save articles from my favorite RSS reader (Feedler Pro) to Voice Dream. Even if (unlike me) youre not visually-impaired, its a great tool for being able to listen to articles or documents while doing other things. We use it in the car to listen to news stories, and I often have it playing in the background while I work. Its one of the few apps and I consider an "indispensable tool" and I make sure its available to me on all my devices. Now if only they were a macOS version…

Best app in its class!

I use voice dream EVERY DAY and would like to thank the developers for creating a supporting such a great app and hope that you keep you foot on the neck of the competition by continuing to make this app better for users. I use this app daily and am learning so much, and faster thanks to this app!!

Look no further!

This is a terrific app! I use it to read text-to-speech and also to enlarge text to read talks from my iPad. Customer service is amazing for such a small operation. Now that it syncs between devices, its even better. Thank you Winston!

The best reader... BUT

Some severe bugs that deducts a rating ⭐️: 1) The live document view, too-easily invoked by accidental side-swiping, takes many seconds to bring up. But I HATE

The best of its kind, still room for improvement

I have been using Voice Dream Reader for a few years now. The latest update made it the best text-to-speech program for iOS by far. It works well, has lots of voices to chose from, and reads lots of different file types. Some PC based programs, like Read&Write Gold, do a lot of this, but cost a lot more and have some other limitations. I like to use Voice Dream Reader to read/study PDF files. I like the PDF format because it keeps the visual format of the original document (not just text). I scan and do OCR myself for many PDFs. I use the highlight and note feature within Voice Dream. On my iPad Pro 12.9", I use split screen with Voice Dream on the left and GoodNotes on the right and use the Apple Pencil to take hand written notes for documents Im "studying." One limitation is that the in context highlighting and notes dont decode part of the PDF file. So if I want to view the PDF with another PDF reader, like Acrobat, there will be no highlighting nor notes. Thats my main/only complaint.

Best text to audio

This app is the most stable and useful app in the store. I use it to listen to all of my textbooks and news articles. I love that it works without wifi, once you save something to the app it is ready to be read. Purchased voices are certainly worth the money.

Starting trouble: unable to select a voice

Just bought the app. First it asks me to select a free premium voice. But when I do so, no matter which voice I choose, its stuck with a pop up message playing voice sample

Browser integration FAIL

Importing a document to read works fine, but good luck if you want it to read you a website. I got that to work exactly once, now "save to voice dream" does absolutely nothing. It does not read the site or save a link to it or anything. This app is absolute garbage. The voices are great (especially Ivona Salli), but youd be 100% better off trying to convince Apple to offer the high quality voices to customers for a fee than forcing yourself to go through this apps awkward middleman. Apple devices can already read anything to you. Dont waste your money.

Awful

Dont buy this app, waste of money.. I cant open anything. The interface is horrible. Im not sure how it received 5 stars, maybe FAKE REVIEWS??

Dont Hesitate – Just Buy It! You will not be disappointed!!!

If youre sitting on the fence at all about purchasing this app, dont wait, buy it now! You will not be unsatisfied! Although I may have what could be called "user bias," because I have been using this app for so many years that I dont know how I would live without it! This app, its companion app, and the voices that go along with them are perhaps one of the best investments you can make in apps from the App Store I am a very persnickety person, and I have very particular sensibilities. Therefore, I would not recommend just any app. Trust me – this app and its companions are the real thing! Truly, the developer has a niche Jewel that he could over charge for, like some other developers do, ripping us all off with apps over $20. This app, and the price point it maintains, are very much a worthwhile purchase. That said, however, I would not pay a penny more than $20 for this app and its companion apps. Although, I have invested more money in the voices, which are sold separately, for the most part, because they allow me to customize my user experience with different voices, still at a reasonable price. Also, to address a previous reviewers comments about this app being "garbage," one must always keep in mind the old adage: GARBAGE IN, GARBAGE OUT. As a user with reading disabilities, I can tell you that most websites are NOT optimized for web readers such as this app. A web developer must code his or her site properly in order for it to be read properly by a website reader. For example, the web developer can, and should, indicate in what order the website should be read by an electronic web reader or other accessibility tool. As well, the web developer must indicate for the electronic web reader what items are graphics and what items are pictures, and name each one in the process to describe what it is. It is fully NOT the responsibility of this Voice Dream app developer that most websites are not accessibility friendly. This means that this app is in no way responsible for the "garbage" that was put into it by the other reviewer. As an aside, I do feel strongly that developers who gouge the market with their apps selling over $20, show very little respect for the iOS app buyer. This app, and the price point that it maintains, prove that a developer can make a reasonable profit while still having enough resources to develop a great app! ~Antonio Dominion Redwood Mountain Marketing Associates

Most educational app

Amazing app . Great voices makes this app a very useful tool to educate yourself via audio books . Very easy to understand . I listen to my kindle /ePub books and that works great

Great Updates, One Process Flow Hinderance

This is a fantastic app that I have relied on to get all of my reading (newsletters, articles, books, etc.) done for years. The latest version fixed many of the nuisance bugs with the old version (which was already very good!), so overall I like it a lot. My only complaint is that when importing a document from the clipboard, the app now makes a legit guess at the title you want to give it by pre-entering the first few words of the article on the clipboard as the document title. This is all fine and Im sure many people appreciate it, however, I prefer to give me own titles to each document, and its quite bothersome to have to tap twice (waiting in between taps) to select the pre-entered title text to remove it. The simple fix I am requesting is to have the auto-entered text title be pre-selected when the title entry box appears, so that if the user starts typing it will overwrite the pre-entered title instead of just adding to the end of what was pre-entered. I believe this is preferable because if someone does ONLY want to add text on to the end of the pre-entered title (although instinct tells me few would want to do this), they would only need to tap once at the end of the pre-entered text before they start typing vs. having to tap twice with a pause in between to select all before being able to enter a new title.

Help img me "read" thru my growing Instapaper feed

Amazing text to speech reader. Love the integration with Instapaper. Just looking for CarPlay support so I can listen on my commute in a safer manner.

Guilt free reading!!

This app has freed me up to read all the books I want to read and still get my housework done or whatever else I need to do. I love it! I cant say enough positive things about it. It is absolutely wonderful!

A must have app. Wish I could give 10 ⭐️s

When I first dreamt about how technology could help me learn, I envisioned a product like Voice Dream and waited years and spent thousands of dollars on hardware and software trying to achieve my dream. This developer has fulfilled many of the hopes I had for technology. The folks at Voice Dream LLC have done a lot of work to make sure this app does reading well and continues to add improvements that I didnt know I wanted or needed but have become so helpful I cant imagine not having them. Some key features that make this app so useful *Ability to add multiple voices. *Bookshare and ePub reading. *Read along highlighting. *Adjustable speed

Good app can be a little confusing at first

I think this app is good overall. I would like to see more pause between things like titles and subtitles before the voice starts the next sentence or paragraph. In the PDF document I am trying, there are a lot of single sentences that do not end in a period. So the voice does not pause at the end of the sentence. This makes things just a wee bit harder to keep up with the dialogue. I think over time I might get used to it. Also things like bullet points the voice reads the sentence and only pauses after the next item number because it ends with a period. I.e. 1., 2.,....... Maybe an option is if there is a blank space between sentences to have the voice pause before continuing.
